Jesus said, “Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened. . . “ (Matt. 7:7). A ChurchSEARCH is a tool that helps you “Ask, Seek and Knock.” It is an Excel spread sheet that we create that lists the closest 300 churches to your location. The ChurchSEARCH gives their name, address and phone number. It makes it possible for you to ask them to share their building.
“Ask, Seek, Knock” means to ask God for help. However, in order for God to direct you to your new church building you must move your hands and feet. In other words, you must co-create with God by asking, seeking and knocking on the doors of the closest 300 church facilities.
Because the majority of churches do not want to share their building. It’s human nature to be possessive, territorial and selfish. Perhaps that’s why Jesus said, “love your neighbor as yourself,” and “if someone asks for your shirt give him your coat as well.” He knew that people do not want to share. That’s why you have to ask 300 churches in order to find two or three that need your financial support, and who value the good that comes from a joy-filled sharing relationship.
It’s easier than you think. The first thing you need to do is pray. Prayer invites the Holy Spirit to the task. If you are prayed up, you will have the energy you need. Remember the words of Paul, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Put together a ten-member volunteer team to contact the 300 neighboring churches on the ChurchSEARCH. Ask each member to call 30 churches.
Step One: Mail a letter asking each church to share. We give you the sample letter to send.
Step Two: Telephone each church and leave your contact information. We give you the script to leave.
Step Three: Actually knock on the doors. We show you how to do this as a team effort.
Step Four: Praise God and be patient.
